Stock photography makes you look like everybody else. Occasionally it makes you look like a meme.
András is a stock model who became an internet meme. There are thousands of photos of him on the stock libraries, and he is on an enormous number of websites belonging to businesses who were trying very hard to look professional.
That’s the trouble with stock. The harder you reach for professional, the more you look like everyone else who reached for it.
We’d just fixed exactly this on the Glasscraft website. One of the biggest glass manufacturers in the UK, and their site was a stock photo graveyard. So we photographed their own team, in their own factories, and used that instead. Suddenly it looked like a real company with real people in it, because it is one.
Stop trying to look professional. Look real.
