Source files

What are source files?

When talking about source files we generally mean the files which are used to produce a final product such as a website or piece of graphic design.

For example, if you were to have a brochure produced for your business, an agency would probably provide this as a PDF to make it easier to send to customers, suppliers, printers etc. The actual source files which would be used to produce this PDF would be retained by the agency so they can make updates and carry out any changes or additions in the future.

When it comes to websites, we’re generally referring to all files uploaded to your hosting provider and whatever else is needed to get the site functional on another host.
